HIPPIE

Playful vase and candle holder

VASE, CANDLE HOLDER, COASTER, TRIVET
Year: 2024

Playful and multifunctional tableware object: one object that can be divided and decorate the whole table. The shape is inspired by the sentence “put flowers in your cannons”.

Materials: recycled aluminium and 3d printed support made of orange peels

This project draws inspiration from the famous hippie phrase,
“Put flowers in your guns,” reinterpreting a symbol of conflict into an object of beauty and utility.
The idea stems from the geometric, flower-like shape of a gun’s cylinder cross-section, transforming this typically negative element into a versatile design piece.

The result is a multi-purpose flower vase, candle holder and a trivet crafted from recyclable aluminum—a material chosen for its sustainability and its historical link to weaponry.

A central base, 3D-printed from bioplastics or food waste fibers, complements the aluminum tubes. This base is adaptable: it can serve as support for the tubes, a bottle holder, or a small tray or a trivet, enhancing its functionality.

The design’s strength lies in its versatility and symbolic reimagning.
It transforms an object traditionally associated with rigidity and violence into one that fosters warmth, community, and conviviality.

Whether used as a centerpiece for a dinner table, a decorative feature for an event, or simply a functional accessory in everyday life, this creation invites users to engage with its layers of meaning and practicality.
